Margaret Messick Dellinger Daoust, 73, of Broadway, died May 27, 2012 at the Rockingham Memorial Hospital.
She was born October 31, 1938 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late Stanley W. and Lottie Catherine Higgs Messick.
She worked as a seamstress at Miss Maggie’s Alterations in Harrisonburg. She was a member at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, where she served as choir director and Sunday school superintendent.
On October 1, 1955 she married her first husband, Bobby Allen Dellinger who preceded her in death on August 22, 1987. On January 14, 1989 she married her second husband, Robert James Daoust, who survives.
Also surviving are daughters; Nancy Dellinger Runion and husband James “Jimmy” of New Market, Sharon Dellinger Rose of Broadway, son; Randolph “Randy” Dellinger and wife Karen of McGayheysville, brother; Weldon “Butch” Messick of Staunton, sisters; Brenda Estes of Timberville, Shirley Browne of Chesapeake, VA, grandchildren; Jason Rose and wife Crystal, Grant Allen Dellinger, Amber Marie Zuspan-Finnin and husband Kevin, E.J. Zuspan, great grandchild; Lucy Anne Marie Zuspan. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by siblings; Lorraine Runion, Dalton Messick, Ivan Messick, Edith Mongold.
Rev. Don Shull will conduct a memorial service 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
The body was cremated.
