James Thompson, Jr., 84 of Broadway, VA died June 13, 2012 at Life Care Center of New Market.
He was born November 17, 1927 in Virginia, and was a son of the late James S. and Minnie Emerson Thompson.
He was a dairy farmer. In the 1960’s he won the Outstanding Young Farmers award, and also won third in the state.
On December 2, 1950 he married the former Janalee Louise Sheets, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Rick and James W. “Jim” Thompson, both of Broadway; four daughters, Faye Thompson, Ellen Grim, and Julie Fansler, all of Broadway, Debbie McDaniel of Elkton; 6 grandchildren; 1 step grandchild.
His four siblings preceded him in death.
Revs. A.D. Tice and Brian Posey will conduct a funeral service 10:00 A.M. Friday at Mtn. Valley United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Mtn. Valley cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 P.M. Thursday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
