Agnes Ruth Martin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, peacefully passed away on December 23, 2024, at the age of 80.

Born on January 12, 1944, in Bergton, Virginia, to the late Jesse and Nannie Simons Dove. Agnes spent a life filled with love and a big family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Carl Martin, her three children, Steven Ashenfelter, Tony Ashenfelter, and Eric Ashenfelter, her three grandchildren, Kaleb, Mykala, and Austin, two great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Her legacy continues through the good works she did and all the lives she touched.

Agnes is also remembered by her 9 surviving siblings: Barbara Wine, Catherine Smallwood, Betty Jennings, Shirley Turner, Charles Dove, Evelyn Elliott, Mildred Dellinger, Beatrice Hall, Jesse Ray Dove. She joins her 4 sisters, Ogretta Cook, Hazel See, Edith Hammond, and Virginia Breighner, in eternal peace.

Agnes' kindness, keen sense of humor, and unforgettable laugh left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. She also had a lifelong affinity for horses, finding joy and serenity in their presence. Her love for these majestic creatures was evident to all who knew her, and she often shared this passion with family and friends. We are certain she is riding a big white horse in heaven.

A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, January 3, at 11:00 am, at Bergton Gospel Center, 19507 Brock's Gap Rd., Bergton, Virginia, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the beautiful life she lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, VA, towards the cost of final expenses.
