Arlene Kathryn (Showalter) Hartman, 95, of Linville, Va. passed from this life to the next at her home on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

Arlene was born February 19, 1930, near Linville, Va. She was the daughter of the late Irvin D. and Sallie E. (Shank) Showalter. On October 18, 1955, Arlene was united in marriage to the late Howard D. Hartman. Together, they raised three children, Sallie Ruth (Hartman) Rohrer (Jay), Joseph Howard Hartman (Donna), and James Ervin Hartman (Ramona), who survive. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Arlene was preceded in death by a foster sister, Naomi Shank Brunk, and her siblings, Clayton D, David E, Alma M (Hartzler), Eula M, and Vada E. Showalter. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Arlene was a student of the Word. She taught Sunday school and was a dedicated Christian and member of the Bank Mennonite Church. She enjoyed nature, music, gardening, and traveling.

The family will receive friends Sunday, June 29, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Bank Mennonite Church, 2493 Bank Church Rd, Dayton, VA.  The funeral service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., with burial to follow at the Zion Mennonite Church, 3260 Zion Church Rd, Broadway, VA.
