Obituary

Betty Lou Cline Harrison Butcher, 94 of Broadway Va, passed away peacefully on April 27. 2025 at Shenandoah Place in New Market VA.

She was born on August 18, 1930 in Arkton Va, to the late Ashby and Laura Sheets Cline.

In May of 1951, she married George William Harrison who preceded her in death in February 1970 and then married William F. Butcher in December 1974 who preceded her in death in September 2009.

Betty's greatest joy came from her family. She is lovingly remembered by daughters, Sandra Bentch and husband James of Lincoln Missouri, Gloria Harrison of Staunton VA  and Vickie Hudson of Broadway VA. She leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Matthew Bentch and wife Melanie, Mark Bentch and wife Jill, Andrew Stroop, Gabrille Halpin, Galen Halpin and Meghan Hudson. Betty was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren, Deagan Whittington, Landon Stroop, Andy Stroop, Tatumn Whittington, Cassidy Bentch, Carson Bentch, Corbin Bentch and Carleigh Bentch. She also leaves behind nieces and nephews who she loved and cared for dearly.

Betty began her professional journey at Broadway High School, where she worked as a secretary for J. Frank Hillyard, her dedication led her to a long tenure with Rockingham County School Board as a payroll Administrator.  She retired from the role after many years of committed service.

A woman of deep faith, Betty was a devoted member of Fairview Church of the Brethren in Endless Caverns. Her connection to her church community was an important part of her life.  Betty loved to cook for family and friends, enjoyed caring for her flowers and plants and sharing her China paintings.  She also loved to socialize with her friends and family.

Betty is also preceded in death besides her parents and husbands, her siblings; Pearl Wood, Jessie Cline, James Cline,Mary Amick and Madeline Burracker and stepson William T. Butcher.

As her final gift, she donated her body to the Virginia State Anatomical Board.

Pastors Archie Webster and Pastor Rob Nykamp will conduct a Memorial Service at 1:00 pm Saturday May 3, 2025 at the Fairview Church of the Brethren in Timberville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fairview Church of the Brethren Women's Fellowship, 484 Fairview Church Road Timberville VA  22853.
