Obituary

Boyd Eugene Fulk, 81, of Fulks Run, VA passed away November 13, 2025 at Timberview Crossing in Timberville.

He was born November 21, 1943 in Fulks Run to the late Howard Clory and Lillie Wetsel Fulk.

Boyd retired after 30+ years from VDOT, where he worked on the bridge crew, and snow removal crew on Shenandoah Mountain.   After retirement, Boyd worked as a greeter at his daughter's store, Simple Tymes in New Market. He loved talking with customers, as he didn't know a stranger.  He enjoyed sitting on the porch and waving at everyone going by if he wasn't helping in the store.   His faith came first. He was a member of Mtn. Grove Church of the Brethren, and attended Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren.  He loved the Lord, gospel music, and attending church. A favorite hymn was "One Day at a Time".  He was an avid Yankees fan, and a Dale Earnhart, Sr. fan.  He dearly loved all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He enjoyed attending his grandsons baseball games.

On March 9, 1963 he married the former Gwendolyn "Jill" K. Ritchie, who preceded him in death January 20, 2023.

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Miller of Lacey Spring, Candy Barkley and husband Darrin of Broadway; grandchildren, Joshua Barkley (Tiffany), Jonathon Moyers (Sarah), Elijah Barkley (Jenna), Nicholas Moyers; great grandchildren, Logan Simmons, Bentley Barkley, Brayden Barkley, Easton Barkley, Jackson Moyers, Ryder Barkley, Beau Barkley, Laylanie Moyers; step-grandchild, Brian Alcombright; four sisters, Helen Whitmer, Maybelle "Hope" Ritchie, Joy Simmers (Harold), Martha "Jane" Conley (E.B. "Sonny).

Boyd was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Brian Miller; brothers, Matthew Fulk, Biedler Fulk, Howard C. "Junior" Fulk; and sisters, Naomi Custer, Marjorie Carr, and Alma Conley.

Pastors Jon Prater and Jerry Shiflet will conduct a funeral service 11:00 AM Wednesday at Mt. Zion Church of the Brethren in Linville.  Burial will be in the Mtn. Grove cemetery in Fulks Run, and a meal will follow at the  Mtn. Grove Church of the Brethren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 – 8 PM at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt Zion Church of the Brethren, 10589 Mt Zion Road, Linville, VA 22834.

Many thanks to the staff at Timberview Crossing, and the hospice nurse, Lee Perry.

Although it is difficult for his family here, he is now reunited with his wife and is walking with the Lord in Heaven.
