Catherine Getz Lemons, 102, of Broadway VA passed away August 7, 2024 at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA.

She was born November 2, 1921 in Rockingham County to the late George Ira, Sr. and Anna Frances May Getz.

Catherine worked as salesclerk for Tractor Implement and Supply, F.W. Woolworth in Harrisonburg, and National Fruit. She was a long-time active member of Cherry Grove United Methodist Church, a graduate of Broadway High in 1939, Volunteer EMT with Broadway Rescue Squad for 7 years, and a member of Plains Prominaders Square Dancing Club.  She enjoyed gardening, flowers, traveling, and her loving family.

On February 10, 1940 she married the late Sterling H. Lemons who preceded her in death on January 1, 1962.

Catherine is survived by daughters; Linda L. Shelton of Troutville, Cynthia L. Baker (Lester) of Broadway; sons, Gene L. Lemons (Joyce) of West Fork Arkansas, Ronald W. Lemons (Clara) of Livingston Texas; sisters, Wilda Getz Ritchie of Broadway, Wilma Grimm of Rockingham VA; 8 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by brothers, George I. Getz, Jr., Garnet W. Getz, Everett H. Getz; son- in- law, C. Mark Shelton; grandchild, Sterling L. Lemons; great-grandchild Evan Lemons.

Pastor Debra Cline will conduct a funeral service 10:00 am Monday August 12, 2024 at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6-8 pm at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
