Obituary

David M. Fisher, 83, of Mt. Crawford, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on Aug. 3, 2025. He was born on Nov. 6, 1941 to Christian B. and Esther B. (Ebersol) Fisher at Gordonville, PA.

In his youth he accepted Christ as his Saviour, and at the time of his death was a faithful member of Pleasant Valley Mennonite Fellowship. He was ordained to the ministry in 1970, and served as a minister at Milverton Mennonite Church, Milverton, ON until 1973 when he was asked to serve for a time at Farmington Mennonite Church, Farmington, NM. In 1977 he was asked to serve as minister at the newly formed Pleasant Valley Mennonite Fellowship, Mt. Crawford, VA, where he labored for forty-five years. He also served for many years on the board of directors for Lamp and Light Publishers in Farmington, NM. In 1977, he founded Dave's Recycling in Harrisonburg, VA, and managed the business for many years.

On June 6, 1964 he married Mary Ann Barbara (Leis) who survives. He is also survived by his seven children, Daniel and wife Evelyn, of Jeffersonville, KY, David Jay and wife Laura, of Mt. Crawford, VA, John Mark and wife Sarah, of Mt. Crawford, VA, Susan and husband James Otto, of Jinja, Uganda, Africa, Rachel and husband Glenn Slabaugh, of Grottoes, VA, Timothy and wife Shawna of Alotenango, Guatemala, and Philip at home, forty-two grandchildren, and fifty-two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Susie; two brothers, Benjamin and Menno; three sisters-in-law, Malinda Fisher, Anna Fisher, and Rachel Fisher.

Viewing and visitation will be at Pike Mennonite Church, 31 Pike Church Rd. Harrisonburg, VA on Friday, Aug. 8 from 1:00-3:00 and 5:00-8-00 PM. The funeral will be conducted at 10:00 AM, Saturday, Aug. 9, 2025, also at Pike Mennonite Church. Interment will be at the Pleasant Valley Mennonite Fellowship Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Grandle Funeral Home, Broadway, VA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Valley Mennonite Fellowship, 1701 Cedar Ridge Ln., Mt. Crawford, VA 22841, to be forwarded to missions and ministries that David supported during his life.

The family expresses their thanks and appreciation for the many acts of kindness shown to them during the time of his declining health and his passing.
