Dennis Ray Bowman, 73, of New Market, Virginia passed away peacefully at Sentara RMH Monday, September 8, 2025 after suffering chronic pain for many years.

Dennis was born August 2, 1952 in Shenandoah County, VA. He was the son of the late Orville J. Bowman, Jr. and Fleta Rupert Bowman Townshend.

He is survived by his best friend and wife of 45 years, Phoebe Tusing Bowman; his sister Sue Pitman and husband Billy of Bermuda. He is also survived by his brothers­ in-law, Nelson, John and Freddie Tusing, sister-in-law, Carolyn Jennings and husband Bill; Uncle Larry (Butch) Bowman and wife Paula and Aunt Anna Strawderman along with a number of cousins. In addition, he is survived by special friends Johnny Bowman and Linden Stroop, Jr.

He graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School and Triplett Tech. Along with his father, he opened Bowman's Frame and Wheel Alignment, Quicksburg, VA in 1972. He took over as sole owner in 1996 and operated the business until his retirement in 2018. He was a jack of all trades with a natural mechanical ability. He took pride in his work often taking on the jobs no one else wanted to tackle. He did his best to please every customer.

He was a member of Solomon's Lutheran Church. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and former member of the Forestville Quicksburg Ruritan Club. He was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He was a free spirit who loved the open road; riding his motorcycle every chance he could. He lived to hunt, especially deer and turkeys. He also enjoyed target shooting and helping the younger generations hone their skills. He enjoyed his trips to view the elk at the Virginia Elk Restoration Project in Southwest Virginia.

He was a fan of NASCAR, auctions and old westerns.

Although tough on the outside, he was a very kind, caring and compassionate individual. He lived his life on his own terms.

To honor his wishes, his body was cremated and there will be no formal services.

Those wishing to pay their respects and sign the book may do so on Saturday, September 13th from 9 AM – 7 PM at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
