Donnie Elwood Dove, Sr., 88 of Rockingham passed away July 16, 2025 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.

He was born December 27, 1936 in Fulks Run and was the son of the late Roy E. and Rosie Violet Carr Dove.

Donnie served in the United States Army from 1956-1959 and was a member of the Harrisonburg VFW Post3 632.  Donnie drove a tractor and trailer for over 40 years most recently for Tenneco. He was also a member of the Teamsters Union Local #29 where he enjoyed eating lunches with fellow truck drivers every month.  Donnie loved woodworking, carving, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  He never met a stranger and was a simple and humble man.

Surviving is a son, Donnie E. Dove Jr.(Alana Beal) of Matthews, NC; a daughter, Teresa Tutwiler(Paul) of Mt. Solon; grandchildren, Heather May(Bobbi), Samantha Flynn, Josh Dove; great grandchildren, Cohen and Zoey May; step great grandchild, Nic May; a brother, Matthew Dove(Phyllis) of New Market, numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Maxine Shipe of Bridgewater Home.

He was preceded in death by sister Faye Anderson and Charlotte Cullers.

Pastor Eric Wetzel will conduct a funeral service 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Mtn. Grove Brethren Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may pay respects and sign the register book Sunday from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, where the casket will remain closed.
