Dorothy Jean Layman, 91, of Broadway, VA passed away April 7, 2026 at Life Care Center of New Market.

She was born on May 24, 1934 in Rockingham County to the late Weltie and Marie Long Minnick.

Dorothy drove a car for the Rockingham County School System.  She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church and Mtn. Valley Ruritan Club.

She is survived by one son, Ronald Layman of Harrisonburg; two sisters, Peggy Merica of Broadway, Dianna Halterman of Broadway; 4 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 7 foster children.

She was preceded in death by one son, Terry Layman; two sisters, Nancy Lloyd, Betty Ritchie; two brothers, Junior Minnick and Charles Minnick.

Rev. Donnie Owen will conduct a memorial service 3:00 PM  Sunday at Broadway Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church.

At Dorothy's request, she was cremated.
