E. Brown Hupp, 89, of Bergton, died January 11, 2024 at his home.

He was born December 1, 1934 in Bergton and was a son to the late William F. and Gussie Shipe Hupp.

Brown was a farmer and raised turkeys for Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative.  He was also a school bus driver for Rockingham County Public Schools for 36 years and a lifetime member of the Bergton Fire Department.  He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1958-1963.  Brown was a member of Crab Run Church of the Brethren in Mathias, WV but attended Caplinger United Methodist Church in Criders.

On December 21, 1960 he married the former Gloria Dawn Smith, who survives.

Also surviving are a son; Scott Hupp, of Bergton, two daughters; Vicki Ritchie and husband Tom, of Bergton, Micki Carr and husband Don, of Bergton, a granddaughter; Donica Carr and companion Justin Sager, of Bergton, two great granddaughters; Justice Dove, of Timberville, Jadeyn Sager, of Bergton, two sisters-in-law; Shirley Hupp and Gale Aquino and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter; Teghan Fawna Ritchie, a brother; Franklin Dow Hupp and a sister; Alma Jane Martz.

A private graveside service will be held at Perry Moyer Memorial Cemetery in Bergton by Pastor Dean Williams.

The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life visitation on Saturday from 4-6 PM at the Bergton Rec Center.

There will not be any services at the funeral home.
