Edna Florence May Wilkins, 87, of Rockingham passed away January 3, 2025, at the Life Care Center in New Market.

She was born July 9, 1937 in Mathias, WV to the late Homer W. and Lena Dellinger Barb.

Edna worked various jobs throughout her life but enjoyed her time teaching the Head Start Program in Hardy Co. and later retired from Wampler Poultry.  With her sister Mary Shumaker she attended and was a member of the Mathias Assembly of God Church.

On September 6, 1977 she married Austin Wilkins who preceded her in death on September 18, 1998.

Surviving is a son; Rev. David L. May and wife Mary Sue of Mathias; daughters, Debbie Johnson and husband Jerry of Harrisonburg, Valerie Hupp and husband Michael of Bergton, Doris "Dottie" May of Timberville; a brother Amos Barb of Fulks Run; seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by daughters; Patsy Ritchie and Lena Sowards; five brothers and three sisters.

Pastor Daryl Dunsmore will conduct a funeral service 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Grandle Funeral Home Chapel in Broadway.  Burial will be private.

Those wishing to pay respects and sign the book may do so Thursday from 9-7 at the funeral home where the casket will be closed.  Friends may call at Debbie's Residence at any time or an hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Wilkins will be her grandchildren, Jerry E. Johnson, Harold Blankenship, Jr., Matthew Ritchie, Kenneth Ritchie, Jr., Timothy May and Donald Dishman.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to the Rec. Dept. at the Life Care Center of New Market where they will accept dropped off cash donations.
