Elton "Ellie" Ann Mitchell, 88, of Broadway passed away July 24, 2024 at her residence.

She was born March 23,1936 in Broadway VA, to the late Howard L. and Velma Susan Kennedy.

Ellie worked as a seamstress for H.D.Lee, member of Mayland Christian Church and attended Grace Mennonite Fellowship Church. She loved to cook, bake and do crafts. She loved her family who came for a delicious meal on special days.

On December 19,1952 she married George "Frank" Mitchell Sr.

Ellie is survived by a daughter, Oneida Kay Plogger and husband Lanny of Broadway, grandchildren; Brandon Plogger and wife Melissa of Basye VA, Adam Plogger of Broadway, Shanon McWilliams and husband Ashby of Melrose VA, grandson; Lester Mitchell; 9 great grandchildren and number of great great-grandchildren, a daughter-in-law, Ramona of Broadway; a brother Howard Kennedy II of Harrisonburg, sisters; Mildred Cromer of Broadway, Bonnie Gray of North Carolina and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son George "Frank" Mitchell, Jr., brothers, Carroll Kennedy, Raymond Kennedy.

Pastor Josh Cox will conduct a funeral service 11:00 am Monday at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Mayland.

Friends may call Sunday at the funeral home, or the Mitchell residence anytime.
