Elwood Dow Wilkins, 85, of Mathias, WV passed away August 1, 2025 at E.A. Hawse Health Center after a brief stay.

He was born March 13, 1940 in Mathias at the family home place on Branch Mountain,  to the late Waldo and Reta Dispanet Wilkins.

After graduating high school Elwood moved to Annapolis, MD, and began working as an electrician. He worked 49 ½ years at Jewell Electric.  He was a charter member of the Broadneck Elks Lodge #2608 in Arnold, MD for 46 years.  After retiring he spent summers in Mathias, WV with his sister and brother-in-law and he had resided with them permanently since 2017.  He scheduled many of his vacations around the West Virginia deer hunting season.

On March 30, 1961 he married the former Mary Etta Miller, who preceded him in death September 22, 2007.

Elwood is survived by two sisters, JoAn Clem, Judy Fansler (Roger); numerous nieces and nephews. He was a father to Anthony Quinn Wilkins.

He was preceded in death by his son, Elwood Kevin Wilkins; his daughter, Mozelle DeAnn Wilkins, and a sister, Betty Lou Wenger.

Pastor Jonathan Hedrick will conduct a graveside service 2:00 PM Sunday at New Dale Cemetery on Kimseys Run.

There will be no viewing or services at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
