Evelyn Spitzer Sampson, 97, of Timberville, VA passed away April 29, 2025 at VMRC -Wenger House, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 4, 1928 in Timberville, to the late Walter Henry and Katie Marie Spitzer Arehart.

Evelyn was a member of Timberville Church of the Brethren.  She and her family lived numerous places in the U.S.A., England, and Spain, while her husband served in the U.S. Air Force.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

On August 5, 1946 she married Harold L. Sampson, Sr., who preceded her in death August 24, 1979.

Surviving are two sons, Carlton Sampson and wife Denise Hill of Broadway, Harold Sampson, Jr. of Timberville; sisters, Margaret Dillon, Linda Arehart, Peggy Sellers, Debbie Wolverton; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her son, Robert Nelson Sampson; brothers, Ed Arehart, Bev Arehart, Lowell Arehart, Walter "Bud" Arehart, Hunter Arehart; sisters, Nancy Dove, Catherine Keister, Anna Tribby, and Betty Biller.

A private family service will be held at Woodbine Cemetery in Harrisonburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Timberville Fire Department, P.O. Box 101, Timberville, VA  22853.
