Fadene Smith Nesselrodt, 93, of Bergton passed away January 2, 2026 at Timberview Crossings in Timberville.

She was born August 15, 1932 in Bergton to the late Harry S. and Agnes Halterman Smith.

Fadene was raised in Rockingham Co. and graduated from Broadway High School in 1949.  Upon graduating she immediately went to work for the Harrisonburg Telephone Company (now Verizon).  Ater the traffic dept. closed in 1987 she transferred to Woodbridge, VA office where she worked until taking early retirement.  Fadene was a member of the Damascus Church of the Brethren in Criders.  She had many hobbies such as camping, square dancing with the Plains Promenades, but in later years, playing cards, the great outdoors and her love for animals was the greatest.

On August 26, 1950 she married Virgil "Pete" Nesselrodt who preceded her in death on May 29, 2015.

Surviving is a daughter, Deborah Nesselrodt of Ft. Worth, TX; a son, Scott Nesselrodt of Bergton; and one nephew, Dick Nesselrodt of Bergton; special friends, Butch Hottinger and Dorothy Fulk who helped take care of her beloved cats after she went into assisted living.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Eileen Nesselrodt.

Per Fadene's wishes her body was cremated and a memorial service will be announced in the Spring.
