Freeman Edward Ritchie, 77, of Broadway, died November 28, 2024 at his home.

He was born October 26, 1947 in Shenandoah County and was a son to the late Edward Lee and Frances Pauline Frye Ritchie.

Freeman retired from Tyson Foods and was also a farmer.  He enjoyed his dogs, cat, farming and Western movies.

On February 1, 1975 he married the former Jean Dove, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons; Greg Ritchie and Crystal McCusker, of Broadway, Steven Ritchie, of Harrisonburg, a brother; Dewey Ritchie, of Broadway, a sister; Dorothy Wimer, of Staunton and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Dennis Allen Ritchie and a sister; Dottie Coffman.

Pastor Scott Budde will conduct a graveside service 12 PM Wednesday at Perry Moyer Memorial Cemetery on Crab Run Rd. in Bergton.

There will not be any services at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
