Gary Stephen "Butch" Showman, Sr., 75. of Timberville VA, passed away on November 13, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on May 26, 1948 in New Market, to the late Harry and Charlotte Shipe Showman.

Butch worked many years as shipping supervisor at Howell Metal and also in construction as a painter. He was a member of the Eagles in New Market and a member of Mount Clifton United Methodist Church.

On May 9, 1970 he married the former Cynthia A. May who preceded him in death on May 13, 2011.

Butch is survived by sons, Gary Showman Jr. and wife Sarah of Mathias WV, Robert Showman and wife Reva of Timberville VA; a daughter, Cindy Hottinger and fiancé Charles Taylor of Singers Glen; grandson, Cody Strawderman; granddaughters, Casey Showman, Hailey Showman, Makayla Wilkins, Amanda Martz; great granddaughters, Eva Rose Strawderman, Jacie Crites, Kylea Martz; sisters, Carolyn Curry, Wanda Hinegardner; brothers; Kenneth Showman, Cletus Showman, Keith Showman and wife Maggie.

In addition to his wife and parents he was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Showman Sr.

Pastors Glen Turner and Bob Sutherland will conduct a funeral service 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Woods Chapel Independent Bible Church near New Market VA

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6pm-8pm at the Grandle Funeral home in Broadway.
