George Edward Fawley, 88, of Broadway passed away on August 24, 2026 at TimberView Crossings.

He was born in Rockingham County on April 20, 1938 and was the son of the late Scott Denver and Euna Mathias Fawley.

George was a graduate of Broadway High School. On March 10,1957 he married the former June Rae Wine. He was a lifelong resident of Rockingham County and a member of St. Lukes United Church of Christ (County Line).

He was employed for many years at VDOT. After that he worked in the asphalt business of Blackrock and Adams. In addition, he ran a family operated dairy farm for many years.

He had a passion for tractors and enjoyed collecting toy tractors and going to tractor shows. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors at the cabin he built.

Surviving are his wife, June; son, Douglas Fawley and wife Kim; daughter, Kathryn Rumer; 3 grandchildren, Erin Fawley Sauder (Dana), Michael Fawley (Kayla), Brandon Rumer (Amanda); 7 great grandchildren, Easton, Beckett and Dax Sauder, Ava, Hudson, Laramie Rumer and Maverick Fawley.

He was preceded in death by his son John Michael Fawley.
