Gladys Louise Kennedy, 86, of Broadway, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on January 16, 2025.

She was born July 26, 1938 in Rockingham County and was a daughter to the late David Franklin and Henrietta E. Strawderman Ritchie.

She retired from Rockingham Poultry.  Gladys enjoyed gardening and birdwatching.

On September 17, 1960 she married Melvin "Buddy" Paul Kennedy, who preceded her in death on December 26, 1989.

Surviving are a daughter; Debra Kennedy, of Broadway, three sons; Michael Kennedy and wife Jean, of Timberville, Marvin Kennedy and wife Tina, of Keezletown, Timmy Kennedy, of Green Rock, VA, four grandchildren; Michael Kennedy and wife Jennifer, of Timberville, Corey Kennedy, of Broadway, Westley Kennedy and wife Catherine, of Singers Glen, Tiffany Spitler and husband Stephen, of Orange, five great grandchildren, three sisters; Shirley Cubbage, of Broadway, Linda Goodloe, of Broadway, Thelma Warner, of Broadway, and one brother; Jerry Ritchie, of Harrisonburg.

She was preceded in death by three brothers; David Ritchie, Roger Ritchie, Larry Ritchie, and two sisters; Elizabeth Ford, Karen Simmers.

Pastor Scott Budde will conduct a private graveside service at Lacey Spring Cemetery.

There will not be any services at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
