Gregory Allen Harpine, 70, of New Market passed away March 9, 2025 at the home he had built with his own hands thirty-nine years ago.
He was born on December 25, 1954 in New Market VA to the late Milton Allen and Alice Amelia Rupert Harpine.
Greg was a 1972 graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and Nashville Auto Diesel College, a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, a proud Veteran of the Air Force, serving two years of active duty and four years of duty in the Air Force Reserves, member of the New Market Eagles # 4264, the Mt Jackson Moose #979, the National Rifle Association, as well as a life member of the Harley Owners Group.
He was a world class Lift truck technician, forming and operating his own business, Mountain Lift, for fifteen years as well as working for other lift truck services. Greg had such a reputation in the valley that technicians working for competitors would often call him for advice.
Greg was a MOPAR enthusiast and an avid motorcyclist all his life, he loved to go on motorcycle adventures, including 17 years of trips to Daytona Beach Bike Week and Four solo trips to Sturgis, South Dakota. His Sturgis adventures always included side trips to the Continental Divide.
Greg was raised by good, honest people and he enlisted these traits all his life. He loved and always enjoyed time with his extended family and his friends. He never met a stranger and was an adventure seeker.
On June 1, 1991 he married the former Reata L. Ritchie who survives.
Greg is survived by sisters: Debbie Crim and husband Charles of Mechanicsville VA, Donna Roberts and husband Steve of Timberville, nephew Matthew Crim and wife Katie of Richmond, niece Megan Roberts of Stephens City VA, great niece Eliza Crim numerous Aunts and Uncles and extended families.
Pastor Kristen Van Stee will conduct a Memorial service Saturday at 2:00 pm at Mt Zion Lutheran Church in New Market VA. A Last ride will start at the home of Greg's at 1:00 pm to the church. After the service a Gun salute and taps will be held at the home of Greg and Reata.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 pm -8 pm at the Grandle Funeral home in Broadway VA.
