Hobart "Bart" Smith, 87, of Harrisonburg, passed away January 23, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on March 15, 1936, in Williamson WV, to the late Howard and Bytha White Miller.

Bart served in Vietnam with the USMC for 20 years after which he worked as a metal worker for Reynolds Metal.  He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 1061 in Harrisonburg, and member of Cedar Run Church of the Brethren in Broadway.

On December 31, 1975, he married Barbara Zirk Smith who survives.

He is also survived by a daughter, Jeannie S. Wise and husband Steve, of St. Matthews SC, son, Bart E. Smith and partner Anne Mulvihill of Buxton NC; grandson, Brad Wise and wife Jessica of St. Matthews SC; granddaughter, Brandy Hallman and husband Jamie of Orangeburg SC, great grandchildren, Dalton Wise, Austin Wise, Waylon Wise, Ashton Hallman, great great-grandson, Xander Wise; Sister-in-law, Charlotte B. Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews; and the mother of his children, Joyce Gail Smoke of St. Matthews, SC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Howard Smith.

Per his wishes, his body was cremated.

Pastor Ken Fox will conduct a Memorial service 11:00 am Saturday January 27, 2024 at Cedar Run Church of the Brethren near Broadway.
