Jeannette Feddon May passed away fittingly on Earth Day and her dear cousin's birthday, April 22, 2024 at UVA in Charlottesville (where for many years she enjoyed to shop). She could be an intensely private person, however, after many conversations about life's idiosyncrasies, it is felt she would honor an obituary which is a bit forthcoming and lighthearted. She had an extensive stroke, which thankfully did not debilitate her in life.

Jeannie grew up and resided in the Broadway, VA area her entire life, except for a short stint teaching in King George County. She traveled throughout the world and would have loved to travel more had age not gotten the best of her. Her last big trip was this past winter to Alaska to stay with her granddaughter for two months. It was a selfless act of kindness since Alaska was not her favorite destination, especially in the winter.

Though she had been to and enjoyed many places, she seemed connected with the Valley and wanted to stay.

Jeannie was her own kind of person with an abiding strength difficult to describe. She had a gifted intellect, and her sense of humor was impeccable and witty. She was curious, enjoyed having new experiences, and was avid reader who enjoyed learning about a wide range of topics. Her unstinting honesty and well thought out remarks will be missed by many.  I will stop here as she would say something like, "Please, that's enough!"

She graduated from Broadway High School and James Madison University with degrees in English and Counseling. She taught English, coached track and field and was a guidance counselor until she retired from North Fork Middle School in Shenandoah County.

Jeannie was preceded in death by numerus relatives including her parents, Edgar Feddon and Alma Whetzel Feddon, grandson Ian May and many beloved animals.

Left behind are her ex-husband, Stephen May (Cory), son Nathan May and daughter Francesca May, granddaughter Emma May Isaacson and great- grandson Aiden May. Also, not to exclude anyone, a few cousins, and distant relatives.

In her will, she mentioned a desire to gift the Sothern Poverty Law Center. If you wish, please donate in her name.

A public burial will be April 30th @ 12 at Cedar Run Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Broadway.
