Obituary

John Wayne Shipe, 71, of Broadway, died December 17, 2023 at Life Care Center in New Market.

He was born October 11, 1952 in Harrisonburg and was a son to the late C. Brown and Norma H. Mathias Shipe.

John worked as a farmhand for Spitzer's Farm.  He was a member of Linville Creek Church of the Brethren in Broadway.  He was a member of the Young Farmers Association and enjoyed riding his motorcycle and attending NASCAR races.

Surviving are two sisters; Lana Shipe Allison, of Timberville, Anita Shipe Caldwell, of Timberville and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers; Gary and Durwood Shipe.

Pastor Nathan Hollenberg will conduct a graveside service 10 AM Wednesday at Linville Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Broadway.  A memorial service will follow at Linville Creek Church of the Brethren at 11 AM.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.  Friends may visit the funeral home beginning Tuesday at 9 AM.
