Obituary

John Edward Webster, 85, of Mathias, WV passed peacefully in his sleep on March 5, 2024 at his home with his son and daughter in attendance. He was in no pain and even at the end he maintained the stubborn, snarly personality that we all know and love.

Special thanks to his Hospice nurse, Pam, who was an absolute angel and recognized his personality as soon as she met him. She gave him as much crap as he gave her. We will be forever grateful to her.

He was born August 24, 1938 in Lost City, WV and was the son of the late Edward Lee and Eva Webster.

John attended Potomac State College before joining the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 173rd Airborne Brigade (Sky Soldiers). His passion was carpentry and architectural design.

On October 23, 1965 he married Eunice Pearl McEvoy of Rochester, NY. They had been married for 49 years. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2015 two months before their 50th wedding anniversary.

Webster of Mathias, WV and grandson, Tyler Dove of Timberville, VA; one daughter, Lisa Gordon and husband Bruce of Cedar Park, TX, one grandson, Robert John Gordon of Cedar Park, TX, great granddaughter, Adison Gordon and great grandson, Brodie Gordon; one granddaughter, Alyssa Rapps and husband, Tyler of Liberty Hill, TX, great granddaughter, Declynn Rapps and great grandson, Hayden Rapps.

Also surviving is one brother, Owen (Jack) Webster of College Grove, TN; three sisters, Bessie See of Winchester, VA, Sue Armstrong of Pleasureville, KY, Janet Earman of Inwood, WV, eleven nieces and five nephews.
