Joyce Faye Thompson, 83, of Broadway, VA left this earthly world September 9, 2025 to go to Heaven with her Lord and Savior.

She was born March 13, 1942 in Rockingham County, to the late Lory A. and Hazel Parks Mathias.

Joyce worked at James Madison University before retiring. Joyce was a truly kind and caring person. When she walked into a room she lit up the room with her smile and presence. She was a beautiful person on the inside and out. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. Her daughter Lisa, and her grandson Barry, were her pride and joy.

On December 24, 1997 Joyce married her true love, Michael B. Thompson, who preceded her in death March 30, 2020.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Lisa E. Smith of Broadway, and companion Duane Litten, and his family; her grandson, Barry A. Smith of Broadway; special cousins, Gerald Crider, Angie Hulse and family; her little dog, Shiloh; and her church family whom she loved.

Pastor Eric Campbell will conduct a memorial service 11:00 AM Saturday, September 20th at Skyline Church, 1586B S Main St., Harrisonburg, VA.

Per Joyce's wishes, she was cremated. Arrangements are entrusted to Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

We had an angel on Earth, and now she is an angel in Heaven. When you think of Joyce think of love, and the love of Jesus in her heart. She will always be remembered in our hearts.
