Marie Tusing Gentry

Marie Tusing Gentry, 84, of Rockingham, VA passed away October 7, 2026 at Life Care Center of New Market.

She was born May 1, 1942 in Hardy County, WV to the late John Paul and Mary D. Shipe Tusing.

In 1968 she married Harold Lee “Buck” Gentry, who preceded her in death in 1985.

Marie retired from Rockingham Memorial Hospital after working as short order cook and cashier for 40 years. She enjoyed the friendships she made while working at RMH. She enjoyed NASCAR (always favoring a chevy driver), bird watching, fishing, taking drives on country roads, gardening, going to auctions and farmers markets, and listening to her favorite singer, Conway Twitty. She cherished the time she spent with her beloved dog, Lilly. Marie had a very soft heart for those she loved. She loved her sons, fiercely and her grandchildren brought much joy in her life and was very proud of them.

Marie was a member of Pine Grove Church of the Brethren for several years.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Lee Gentry.

Marie is survived by one son, Ronald “Ron” J. Gentry and daughter-in-law, Tracey Gentry of Rockingham; one grandson, Trevor Gentry and wife Kimberly of Rockingham; one granddaughter, Bethany Gentry Mongold and husband, Logan of Baker, West Virginia and Kim Morgan, significant other of the late David Gentry.

All funeral services will be private.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Thursday October 15th at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
