Mary Elizabeth Hamlett, 81, of Blairs, VA went home to be with her Lord on Friday, September 27, 2024 at her residence.

She was born in Broadway, VA, she was a daughter of the late Albert Homer Yankey and Lucy Ellen Evans Yankey.

Mary was married to Douglas Alderson Hamlett until his death. She worked as a telephone operator prior to her retirement. She was a former member of Hillcrest Baptist Church until her health prevented her from attending services.

Mary is survived by her sister, Barbara Cox, and her husband, Richard, of Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Lee Yankey, and his wife, Joanne and Sidney Yankey, all of Broadway, VA; eight nieces and nephews; two great-nephews; one great-niece; two great-great nephews and two great-great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Vonnie Smith and three brothers, Wayne, Grandville and Larry Yankey.

Pastor Eric Wetzel will conduct a graveside service 11:00 A.M. Wednesday July 9 at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery near Timberville.
