Maxine L. Hoover, 97, died Saturday, August 30, 2025 at VMRC in Harrisonburg, VA.

Maxine was born November 26, 1927 in Sugar Grove, WV, the daughter of the late Mary Mitchell Hoover and Harvey Raymond Hoover.

Maxine and her parents lived in Sugar Grove until their move to Baltimore, MD, where at 17 she began a career at Fort Meade Army Base with District Engineering.  For the next 37 years, she would be stationed at Fort Meade and completed her career at NSA.

Maxine was a world traveler, Cohee Garden Club member, Shenvalee stockholder, golfer and was always active with her many friends and her Tuesday Afternoon Group.  Maxine never met a stranger.

Maxine leaves cherished loved ones, cousins; Bruce and Barbara Hoover, of Harrisonburg, Elaine Rexrode, of Sugar Grove, WV, Betty McGahey, of Harrisonburg, Sue Donald, of New Market, Bill and Linda Hoover, of Weyers Cave, Donnie Williams, of Fairfax, Paul Williams, of Morrisville, NC, John and Joandell Ventura, of New Market, Margaret Donald, of Harrisonburg, Cathy Donald, of Quicksburg, Brad and JoLynn Mitchell, of Franklin, WV, Benjamin and Dinah Mitchell, of Sugar Grove, WV, Brenna and Sam Cochran, of Sugar Grove, WV, Barbara Mitchell, of Franklin, WV, Ernie and Jan Foltz, of Mechanicsville, Sarah and David Vaughn, of Richmond, Cate Akbarzadeh, of Richmond, Joshua Donald, of New Market, Elizabeth Frey, of Richmond, Hannah Donald, of Philadelphia, PA and many lifelong friends at VMRC.

A special thanks to her family, the staff at VMRC Mumaw House and First Choice Hospice.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025, 10:00 AM at Reformation Lutheran Church in New Market, VA.  Inurnment will follow at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Sugar Grove, WV.
