Maxine Will
Orebaugh
Sep 4, 1930 — Jun 24, 2026
Maxine Will Orebaugh, 95 of Broadway, VA passed away June 24, 2026 at White Birch Estates.
Born on September 4, 1930, she was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Edna Will.
Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. She devoted many years to raising her children and caring for her grandchildren. When her children were in high school, she began working at Alan's Bestway in Timberville and later at Broadway Supermarket as a cashier. A lifetime member of the Broadway Rescue Squad, Maxine was deeply committed to serving her community. She faithfully served others and continued working for as long as she was able.
She was known for her generous heart and her willingness to help anyone in need. It was often said that she would give the shirt off her back to a stranger if they needed it. She always stood up for the underdog and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. One story that reflected her compassionate nature was the time she carefully stitched up a turkey after it had gotten attacked by a dog, determined to do everything she could to save it.
Maxine loved spending time outside, especially tending to her flowers and gardens. Whether working in the yard or simply enjoying nature, she found peace and happiness outside.
On May 16, 1954 she married Merle Benjamin Orebaugh, who preceded her in death March 7, 2010.
Surviving are three sons, Jeffrey and companion Elizabeth "Betty" Melillo, Timothy and Rodney Orebaugh; grandchildren, Jeanette Lantz, Jaeson Orebaugh, Ryan Orebaugh and wife Sarah, Aaron Orebaugh and wife Taylor, Rodney Orebaugh, Derek Orebaugh, David Orebaugh Jr., and Meagan Wingate and husband Charlie; along with her cherished great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and many extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son David Orebaugh.
Pastors Kinley Simmers and Rebecca Tyson will conduct a funeral service on Monday July 6, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Trinity UCC in Timberville. Burial will follow at Timberville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service starting at 11:00AM.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided compassionate care during Maxine's final years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Broadway Rescue Squad (P.O. Box 666 Broadway, VA 22815) or Trinity UCC (P.O. Box 1112 Timberville, VA 22853)
