Obituary

Miles Edward Turner, 92, of Fulks Run, VA passed away April 7, 2026 at Timberview Crossing in Timberville.

He was born January 4, 1934 in Fulks Run to the late Lloyd and Ruth Turner.

Miles graduated from Broadway High School in 1952.  After high school he joined the Army and served from 1954 to 1956.  Following his time in the service he worked for IBM in Washington, DC.  In 1969 he moved back home to Fulks Run to run Fulks Run Grocery/Turner Hams, with his wife Marcella. They owned and operated the store for 27 years and he recently attended the 75th anniversary in 2025.  Miles was very competitive from sports, cards and everything he did, even when cheering for his children and grandchildren at all their sporting events.  He was an avid golfer, winning numerous first places in the Shenvalee Senior Club Championship and Member Member Tournaments.  In 1998 he won the first flight in the Virginia State Croquet Championship.  Miles was an active and honorary member of the Fulks Run Ruritan Club for 57 years, 10 of those he was treasurer, and maintained both the new and old Ruritan Parks.  Miles and his "Turner Brothers" were known by many as the guys who rode their bicycles backwards in many local parades.  He enjoyed flying remote-controlled airplanes with the Shenandoah R/C Club and the Fulks Run Flyers.

On July 6, 1957 he married the former Marcella Bliss Fulk who survives.

Miles is also survived by one son, Darrel Turner and wife Joyce of Fulks Run; three daughters, Janna Blosser and husband Bobby of Timberville, Jennifer Bell and husband Don of Bridgewater, Julie Sengul and husband Yaz of Fulks Run; grandchildren, Richard Turner (Tracey), Jessica Stone (Phillip), Emilee Milne (Stewart), Jared Bell (Jessica), Maggie Long (Jacob), Hailey Custer, Logan Custer(Kayla), Cali Sengul; one sister, Vada May of Mathias, WV; numerous great grandchildren, step grandchildren,  step great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

His brothers, Granvil, Gifford, Garnett, and Wayne Turner preceded him in death.

Services will be private.  The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Friday at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fulks Run Ruritan Club, P.O. Box 742 Fulks Run, VA  22830.
