With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nancy Lee Walton Drury, 90, of Broadway, Virginia. She died peacefully from complications of Alzheimer's disease on May 26, 2026 at home. Born and raised in Timberville, Va., Nancy was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her presence will be deeply missed. To her family, she was our safe place, our source of comfort and love.

She is survived by her son Darren (Diana) Drury and daughter Ramona Messenger; grandson Brandon (Molly) Drury of Berryville; and great grandchildren Parker Thomas and Lucy Rose. She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Quinton "Tom" Drury; her parents Charles Linden and Ruth Wean Walton; and her brother Buddy Walton. She also leaves behind her sister in law, Myrtle Walton; nephews Tim (Diana) Walton and Dwight (Theresa) Walton.

Her spiritual foundation began at Rader Lutheran Church where she was baptized as a child. Her steadfast faith in Christ remained throughout her lifetime and ran full circle back to Rader's when she and her husband retired to New Market in 1988 and became involved members. She was a dedicated part of the Quilting Circle there and assisted in making many quilts over the years that were sent to those in need around the world.

Nancy graduated from Broadway High School and received her nursing degree from Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was working a rotation at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Washington, D.C., when she met the love of her life while he was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base nearby in Washington. They made their home in D.C. until moving to Falls Church with their children where they remained for 25 years. The family were dedicated members of Providence Baptist Church in Vienna, Va. where she taught Sunday School, worked in Mother's Day Out, Vacation Bible School and several other church organizations.

Being close to her family in Timberville, Va., her husband and children visited her home often and they quickly grew to love the Shenandoah Valley as much as she did. She loved gardening, ice cream, was a wonderful cook and baker, loved traveling with her daughter especially to Maine, the Outer Banks and repeated holidays at The Homestead and many other weekend getaways. She also loved musical theatre, was a woman of strong faith, loved being a homemaker and stay-at-home mother while her children were young and then made a career of working in daycare, preschool and at medical and dental offices. Nancy and Tom treasured time spent with their grandson, Brandon while he grew up and attended all of his school, church and sporting events. She cherished the family dog and the cats that filled her home over the years.

We wish to thank her dedicated caregiver and nurse, Maryahnna Rothgeb; her wonderful and skilled occupational and physical therapists Amy Homan DePoy and Shari Mast, as well as those at Visiting Angels and Sentara Hospice.

For those wishing to pay their respects, they may do so at Grandle Funeral Home on Sunday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.  A private burial will take place at Rader Lutheran Church Cemetery.
