Nanny Blanche Harris, 87, of Timberville, died October 3, 2026 at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.
She was born March 5, 1939 in West Virginia and was a daughter to the late Viola Ayers Shoemaker and the late Roy Shoemaker, who helped raise her as his own daughter.
Nanny had worked at Rockingham Memorial Hospital as a home health nurse. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Broadway. She loved reading, sewing and gardening.
On March 26, 1991 she married Thomas Lee Harris, who preceded her in death on September 5, 2014.
Surviving her are seven children; Richard Popkins, Diana Popkins, Donna West, Robert Popkins (Sara), Carla Rhodes (Mick), Elaine Ward (Cecil), Michael Popkins (Jane), 14 grandchildren; James, Blake, Andrew, Zachary, Erika, Dustin, Jason, Melissa, David, Jason, Felecia, Robert, Brent, Cody and 24 great grandchildren.
Andrew Foltz will conduct a graveside service on Thursday at 10 AM at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. A guestbook will be available to sign beginning Wednesday at 9 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
