Nelson Eugene Turner, 81, of Broadway died August 21, 2024, at his residence.

He was born January 18, 1943, in Rockingham Co. and was the son of the late Benjamin Webster and Mable (Turner) Turner.

Nelson retired from Smith Transfer after 20 years and later farmed.  He was a proud member of the Teamsters Trucking Union, Local 29, and a member of the Broadway Baptist Church.

On May 30, 1976, he married his first wife, the former Sherrill Plaugher who preceded him in death on August 28, 1997, he married his second wife the former Edna Barb on August 29, 1998, who survives.

Also surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Dennis E. Turner and wife Christy of Fulks Run, Michael E. Turner and wife Sarah of Sugar Grove, WV; a daughter Xan Turner-Mathias and husband Bradley of Broadway; two grandsons, two granddaughters, and two nieces.

In addition to his parents and first wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Louise Long.

All services will be private and there will be nothing at the funeral home.
