Odessa Ruth Moyers, 100 of Bergton VA, passed away July 14,2024, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.

She was born October 10,1923 in Bergton VA to the late George and Sarah Yankey Whetzel.

Odessa worked as a seamstress at the H.D. Lee in Broadway, in younger years she worked in people's homes, she was a member of the Valley View Mennonite Church where she taught many children about the bible. She will always be known to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as the "Cookie Grandma"

On January 8 1947 she married Granville Dowe Moyers, who preceded her in death on February 15,2008.

She is survived by sons, Carroll A. Moyers (Lois), Clayton Moyers (Deborah), Daughter Lois C. Martin (Robert), grandchildren Laura Campbell (Steve), R. Anthony Martin, Courtlyn Martin (Kim), Heather Helmuth (Dave), Carrie Beachie (Rick), Robert Moyers, William Moyers, great-grandchildren, Aspen, Clementine, Louis, Juliana, Z. Huxley, Caspian, Ruby, Lucy, Henry, Crosby, Oliver, Desmond, Ruth, Esther, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, Ervin Whetzel, sisters; Lena Whetzel, Bessie Dove, Winnie Ritchie, Edna Dove, Pauline Peers Schloder, and grandson Bradley Moyers.

There will be no services, the body was cremated.
