Orvin J. "Tub" Hottinger, 90 of Broadway passed away peacefully on June 27, 2025 at Timberview Crossings in Timberville where he had lived the past year.
He was born on August 16, 1934 and was the son of the late George William and Adeen May Hottinger. He spent his childhood years in the Bergton area.
Orvin worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for the Chimney Rock VDOT. He was a member of the Independent Community Church near Linville. Tub was an avid fisherman, boatman and camper when his health still allowed. He spent many summers at Lake Moomaw with family and friends enjoying the lake.
On August 13, 1954 he married his first wife the former, Shirley Marie Dispanet who preceded him in death on June 30, 1984. He later married Bernice Mitchell Estep in May of 1988, and she preceded him in death on August 14, 2014.
Surviving is a son, Kevin Hottinger of Bonita Springs, FL; grandson, Bryan Hottinger of Baker, WV; brother, Bruce Hottinger; sisters, Bernice King, Yvonne Ritchie, Carolyn Bowman, Lana Moyers; and numerous members of his extended family.
In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by a son, Orvin G. Hottinger and his daughter in law, Ruby Funkhouser Hottinger.
Pastor Richard Delawder will conduct a funeral service 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Independent Community Church located at 11587 Turleytown Rd. Linville, VA. Burial will follow at the Martin Luther Lutheran Cemetery in Bergton. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
Those wishing to pay respects may do so Monday from 9 A.M. to 7 P.M. to sign the book at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway, where the casket will remain closed.
