Patricia "Patsy" Rhodes Emswiler, 78, of Broadway passed away April 20, 2026 at Brookdale Assisted Living in Harrisonburg.

She was born on August 19,1947 in Washington, D.C., to the late Lee Roy and Kathleen Zirkle Rhodes. Patsy was a graduate of Broadway High School.

Patsy grew up in the Mountain Valley area and made her home in Broadway beginning in 1973. She was a devoted neighbor on Morning Side Drive and cherished her close-knit community. Patsy had a love for cats and always had several running around the house. She also took great pride in her flower gardens and mowing her yard, continuing as long as she was able. When she could no longer do so, her neighbor Wayne kindly stepped in to make sure her yard was well taken care of. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, Gary, especially their time spent at Douthat State Park.

On December 1, 1967 she married Gary H. Emswiler, who survives.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her siblings, Barbara Fleming (Max) and Richard "Rick" Rhodes; sister in law, Joan Rhodes; and numerous nieces and nephews: Dana Rogers (Benji), Kevin Fleming (Christine), Bryon Rhodes (Emily), Blake Rhodes, Christine Mireles, Elizabeth Ruge (Todd), David Rhodes, Bob Rhodes (Mary), Misty Rhodes, Mick Rhodes (Carla).

Patsy is preceded in death by two brothers, Stuart Rhodes and Ronald "Ronnie" Rhodes; in-laws, Leota Link and Andrea Rhodes.

A graveside service will be conducted by Andrew Foltz on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Mountain Valley Cemetery near Harrisonburg.
