Paula Crider, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, died on December 26th, 2023, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA. Mrs. Crider had been hospitalized with pneumonia since December 12th. She was 78.

She was born Paula Elaine Basye on January 26th, 1945, at her parents' residence in Mathias. She was the third child of the former Ruth Sherman and Price Basye.

She and Mr. Crider were wed on June 5th, 1966, at Salem Mennonite Church in Baker, WV. They were married for forty-eight years until Mr. Crider's death in 2015.

After their marriage, they relocated to Broadway, Virginia. While there, the couple was blessed with five daughters, all who survive. They are Natalie Price and Husband Mike of McDonald, TN, Tamera Hamilton and Husband Edwin of Mathias, Corinna Dove and Husband James of Mathias, Melissa Casto and Husband Jeff of Mathias, and Revonda Sweet and Husband Aaron of Mt. Crawford, VA. Also surviving are six grandchildren Brandon Price, Casey Hamilton, Megan Crider Robinette, Isaiah Casto, Julia and Hannah Sweet, one Great Grandchild, Grayson Robinette and seven step grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, a sister Imogene Basye, an infant brother, Paul Allen Basye, and a great grandchild, Vera Robinette.

A funeral service be held at 2 PM on Saturday, December 30 at Mathias Mennonite Church.  Interment will follow at the Sherman Cemetery in Mathias. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
