Preston Franklin Souder ,73, of Melrose, passed away on January 29, 2024 at his residence.

He was born on September 7, 1950 in New Market VA to the late Allen Talford and Mary Jane Burkholder Souder.

Preston retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections, US Navy Veteran, was a member of Fellowship Methodist Church, an avid hunter and fisherman. A member for many years of Page Valley Sportsmen's club and a life member of Shenandale Gun Club.

On July 12, 2003, he married Faye Gray Souder who survives.

Preston is also survived by a daughter; Gail Anne Souder, son; Gregory Allen Souder and wife Heather, grandchildren; Ava Leigh Souder, Cade Preston Souder, Bryce Duane Souder, sisters; Carla Jane Foerster and husband Lee, Melinda Lane Souder, step children; Richard R. Harvel and wife Angela, David L Harvel and wife Judy, Daniel L. Harvel and wife Rachel, step grandchildren; Patrick, Rachal, Jacob, Karen, William, Jonathan, Riley, Zachery, and Thomas.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Beth Marie.

Pastors Wilma White and Archie Webster will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 am February 3, 2024 at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. The burial will follow at Fellowship Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 pm at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
