Preston Eugene Webster, 77, of Lost City, WV passed away peacefully at his home on October 5, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved dearly. After fighting a courageous battle with cancer, Preston went home to be with the Lord.
Born on May 28, 1949, Preston was the son of the late Charles “Bud” Webster and Bertha Webster. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose presence left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Preston married the love of his life, Julia Webster, on August 3, 1974. Together, they shared 52 years of marriage, building a life and family filled with love, memories, and devotion.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Brian Webster and Bridget Bautista (Carlos), and Stacey Shifflett (Kimberly). He was preceded in death by his son, Charles Webster.
Preston was a proud grandfather to Antonia, Toby (Crystal), Aiden, Landon, Mateo, and Gracelynn, and a loving great-grandfather to McKenzie Bowman and Preston Paz.
He also leaves behind two very special friends, Antonio Paz and Charlie Mongold, along with countless friends and loved ones whose lives he touched throughout the years.
Preston was a Christian man whose faith was an important part of his life. He never met a stranger and had a way of making people feel welcome. He loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Whether he was in the woods, on the water, or surrounded by the people he loved, Preston was happiest simply enjoying the life he had been blessed with.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, his strong spirit, his love for his family, and the countless lives he touched. Though his time on earth has come to an end, the memories he made and the love he gave will live on through the generations of his family and all who knew him.
Preston fought a good fight, finished his race, and kept the faith. He is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
— 2 Timothy 4:7
