Ray Clifford Dove, Sr., 91, of Broadway died November 24, 2023 at his residence.

He was born September 6, 1932 in West Virginia to the late Loy W. and Ida Thomas Dove.

Ray worked as a USDA inspector for many years and after retirement went to work for VDOT.  He was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean War,  a member and board member of the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Mayland.  Ray was an avid hunter, especially bear, and was a longtime coach of the Sportsmen Softball Team.

On March 18, 1967 he married the former Donna Biller, who survives.

Also surviving is a son, Ray Clifford Dove, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Broadway; daughters, Sandy A. May and companion Rick Cubbage of Timberville, Patty Twisdale of Timberville, Pam Thompson and husband Keith of Broadway, Karla Goodloe of Timberville; special grandson and great granddaughter raised in the home; Jeremy Hottinger(Tara), Melody Goodloe; grandchildren, Jay Dove, Crystal Campbell, Jason Hottinger, Misti Yoder(Carl), Chris Thompson(Rachelle), Blake Goodloe(Paige); nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren with three on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Dove; siblings, Justin Dove, Lucille Mongold, Edna Secrist, Pauline Kuykendall, Paul Dove; sons-in-law, Robert Goodloe and Willis Twisdale.

Pastors Jerry Ruff and Larry Aikens will conduct a celebration of life service at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 3rd at the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Mayland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 2nd from 2-4 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
