Richard Clay Boyd, 87, of Harrisonburg, VA died March 16, 2025 at his residence.

He was born July 7, 1937 in Concord, NC to the late William Marshall, Sr. and Catherine Rowland Boyd.

Richard retired after 30 years of teaching at Rockingham County Public Schools.  He coached various sports at Broadway High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a past member of Sunset Drive United Methodist Church.

On August 17, 1963 he married the former Barbara Stewart Griffin, who preceded him in death May 6, 1993.

Surviving is one grandson, Cody Boyd Harrisonburg; one brother, Bruce Boyd of Charleston, WV; three grandchildren, Jordene, Corah, Bastian.

His son, Michael S. Boyd preceded him in death.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 5th at 12:00 PM at Winborne Family Cemetery in Suffolk, VA.

A guestbook will be available to sign April 2 and April 3 from 9 AM – 5 PM at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
