Robert Emmert Hoover, 88, of Timberville, passed away December 9, 2023 at his residence.

Mr. Hoover was born December 21, 1934 in Woodstock to the late Emmert and Audrey Ritenour Hoover.

Bob graduated from Woodstock High School, Palmers Business School and attended Bridgewater College.  He retired from Safeway Stores after 30 years of service.  He was a member of Rader Lutheran Church in Timberville.

On June 26, 1960 he married the former Betty Lou Walton, who survives.

Also surviving are a son; Patrick S. Hoover and wife Katherine, of New Market, two daughters; Holly Beth Hatcher and husband Michael, of Timberville, Dixie Leigh Barnes and husband Paul, of Stephenson, five grandsons; Dane Hatcher, Spencer Hatcher, Connor Hatcher, Austin Barnes, Alex Barnes and one granddaughter; Ashleigh Barnes.

He was preceded in death by two sisters; Rachel Burner, Peggy Hamilton, and his beloved cat; Callie.

Pastor Angela Lambert will conduct a graveside service 11 AM Wednesday at Rader Lutheran Cemetery in Timberville.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7 PM at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
