Robert Gene Lam Jr.

Robert “Bobby” Gene Lam Jr., 65, of Broadway, Virginia, passed away on September 20, 2026, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.

Born June 29, 1961, was the son of the late Robert Gene Lam Sr. and Virginia Lorrine Bynaker Lam. To many of his family and friends, he was simply and affectionately known as “Tootie.”

Tootie was happiest outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, farming, or simply enjoying time in nature, he appreciated the simple things in life. He worked as an arborist with Lam’s Tree Service and previously worked as a farmhand for Jeff Germroth.

Tootie had a warm personality, a generous heart, and truly never met a stranger. He enjoyed being around people and treasured time spent with family and friends. Above all, his greatest pride and joy was his family. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter deeply and was always proud to talk about them.

Tootie is survived by his longtime companion and friend, Dolly Morris; his sons, Travis Lam and his children, Alex, Connor, and Rylee; Brandon Showman and his children, Hayden, Hannah, and Aspen; Wesley Lam and his children, Hunter, Brooklyn, and Summer; and Devin Knot. He is also survived by his daughter, Brittany Morris, and her children, Cheyenne, Nathaniel, Madilyn, and Aaron; his great-granddaughter, Airiella; his brother, Eddie Lam; his sister, Connie See (Willie) as well as his beloved nieces and nephew.

In addition to his parents, Tootie was preceded in death by his brother, Stevie Lam.

Tootie will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his easygoing way with people, his generous spirit, and most of all, the love he had for his family. Those who knew and loved him will carry their memories of him with them for years to come.

The family will receive family & friends on Friday, September 25 from 6-8 PM at Grandle Funeral Home.
