Ross Elliott Clem, 70, of Broadway, VA passed away unexpectedly on June 11 to be at peace with the Lord at Sentara Hospital of a massive brain aneurysm. His family was gathered around him. Ross was born May 19, 1956 and was the son of the late Everette and Twila Ryan Clem. He was an organ donor. Ross lived every day of his life to the fullest, confident in his faith and in God's presence in his life and secure in the promise of heaven.

On July 5, 1980 he married his sweetheart for life, Margaret Stirewalt. Together they had two wonderful daughters who he was very proud of, Sarah and husband Michael Barrett of Plymouth, Massachusetts and Rachel and husband John Schimmelfing of Cincinnati, Ohio. He also leaves behind four bright and shining grandchildren that filled him with joy and made him laugh, William and Jacob Barrett and Jack and Emma Schimmelfing; a loving sister, Jan and husband Kenton Fulk of Broadway; brother in laws Jack and Laura Stirewalt, of Waynesboro; Jerry and Barbara Stirewalt of New Paltz, NY; sister in law Rebecca Stirewalt and wife Cheryl Ann Welsh, of Durham, NC; and numerous cousins.

Ross worked various state jobs throughout his life but most recently retired from the Town of Broadway. Throughout his life and career he was a trained EMT, chimney sweep, farmer, gardener, water treatment plant operator, worked in agriculture and animal health services, Little League volunteer, and project manager in a variety of public utility projects. He was well known for his skills in the kitchen and at the grill, never following a recipe, but served his family and community through his cooking. After retirement he and Meg enjoyed traveling. He loved spending time at their beach house in Nags Head where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with friends and family. He also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting at the family cabin near Morning Star Church which was the area where his mom was raised.

He was a lifetime member of Rader Lutheran Church in Timberville where he was baptized, confirmed and married. He served the church in various capacities, but longest and most importantly as Trustee.

For those wishing to pay their respects, they may do so at Grandle Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 16, from 9 am to 7 pm. Pastor Melissa May will conduct a funeral service on Wednesday, June 17 at 10:00 am at Rader Lutheran Church in Timberville. Burial will follow at Rader cemetery.
