Ruth Virginia Shifflett Merrbach, 84, of Broadway died April 21, 2023 at her residence.

She was born January 18, 1939 in Rockingham Co. and was the daughter of the late Jacob William and Pearl Carrie Ford Crider.

Ruth worked at the Life Care Center in New Market as a dietary aid and was a member of Fulks Run Baptist Church.

She was the widow of both Ray J. Shifflett and Samuel Merrbach.

Ruth is survived by a son Kenneth Ray Shifflett and wife Terry; a daughter, Barbara Crider of Broadway; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Hudson, Ronnie Varner, Linda Ali, Robert Varner, Rebecca Kline, John Shifflett, Krystal Flick; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; grand-dog, Fluffy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death a daughter, Betty Grogg; a son, Doug Shifflett; a son-in-law, Larry Crider; and five siblings.

Her body was cremated.

The family would like to thank the home heath care nurses, hospice nurses, her physical and occupational therapists, and all those that came into the home to help with Mrs. Merrbach's care.
