Stanley Eugene Spitzer, 96, of Fulks Run, died December 20, 2024 at Timberview Crossing in Timberville.

He was born July 20, 1928 in Rockingham County and was a son to the late Berlin Lee and Effie Bell Shirkey Spitzer.

Stanley retired as manager after 37 years from the Rockingham Feed Mill.  He also worked four years at Broadway Supermarket and 14 years at Central Valley Truss in Fulks Run.  Stanley served in the U.S. Army from 1949-1952 and was a member of Chimney Rock VFW Post 9660.  He was a member of Mt Carmel United Brethren in Christ Church in Fulks Run.

On September 10, 1955 he married the former Lois Bare, who preceded him in death on April 8, 2022.

Surviving are a daughter; Cindy Thompson and husband Darrell, of Broadway, three sons; Travis Spitzer and wife Cindy, of Fulks Run, Terry Spitzer and wife June, of Fulks Run, Trent Spitzer and wife Carrie, of Broadway, eight grandchildren; Jessica Atkins, Valerie Foley, Shane Spitzer, Cody Spitzer, William Spitzer, Dane Spitzer, Benjamin Spitzer, Keely Spitzer, and eight great grandchildren; Jazelle Atkins, Kaleb Spitzer, Aubrey Foley, Lyla Spitzer, Nora Foley, Paislee Spitzer, Nolan Spitzer, Krew Spitzer.

Stanley was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Pastor Scott Budde and Ronnie Fulk will conduct a graveside service 1:00 PM Sunday, December 29 at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Fulks Run.

There will not be any services at Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.

Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Mt. Carmel United Brethren in Christ Church, 11466 Brocks Gap Rd, Fulks Run, VA 22830.
