Violet Ruth Yankey, 87 of Timberville, VA passed away July 28, 2026 at her residence.

She was born on May 2, 1939 in Bergton to the late William "Web" and Goldie Ketterman Cullers.

Violet worked at Rockingham Poultry and H.D. Lee Company and spent many years as a babysitter. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Church of the Brethren in Timberville. Violet found joy in gardening and tending to her flowers, and she especially loved accompanying Fred to bluegrass music events, where they enjoyed listening to and playing music.

On May 3, 1959 she married Frederick "Fred" Yankey who preceded her in death on January 8, 2004.

Violet is survived by two sons, Terry Yankey and wife Melodie of Weyers Cave, Larry Yankey and wife Polly of Timberville; one daughter, Regina Crider and husband Jeff of Fulks Run; three sisters, Shirley Miller, Vada Bible, Beatrice Hottinger; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Hays Ruce Whetzel; one sister, Velda "Peg" Siever; and two brothers, Norman Cullers and Ray Cullers.

Pastor Jerry Shiflet will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 3:00 PM at Grandle Funeral Home chapel in Broadway.  Burial will follow at Caplinger Cemetery in Criders.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Friday at Grandle Funeral Home.
