Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Brown, Jr., 79, of Bergton passed away January 3, 2026 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.

He was born March 31, 1946 in Rockingham Co. and was the son of the late Woodrow W. Sr. and Eunice Pearl Whetzel Brown.

Woody retired from VDOT.  He was the co-founder of the Country Cruisers Street Rodders. He was proud of the great success that the annual Run in the Hills show became.  Family members and many community members proudly own the many handmade leather items he worked tirelessly on. Woody could always be found at the Bergton Grocery and only missed attending two Bergton Fairs.  He was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church, the Fall Bush Hunt Club, a proud lifetime member of the NRA, and a past member of the Bergton Branch of the Broadway Rescue Squad where he taught CPR for 10 years.

Surviving are sons, Woodrow W. Brown III and wife Steph of Broadway, Brian McNeill and wife Mariea of Timberville; daughter, Angelique Showalter and husband Slade of Timberville; grandchildren, Dakota Brown, Taylor Showalter, Jacob Showalter, Easton Showalter, Fynleigh Brown, Addisyn Showalter; brothers, Larry and Richard Brown; sister, Susan Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Jim Brown, Diane Pence.

Rev. Jeff May will conduct a funeral service 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Bergton.  Burial will be private following the service.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
